Colorado-based EarthRoamer unveiled the XV-HD - and it costs a whopping $1.5million
The EarthRoamer XV-HD started out life as a Ford pickup truck but has been transformed into a luxury motorhome that can accommodate six people. It has a 115 gallon diesel tank, 250 gallon water tank and the roof is fitted with solar panels. The 35ft-long heavyweight camper is more than eight-feet wide and 13.5ft high, and runs on massive 46in tyres.
But while it has been designed to cope with the most extreme off-grid environments, it is also targeted at buyers wanting to travel in luxury.
There is a full bathroom with separate shower, washer and tumble dryer, heated floors, king-size bed, Bose surround sound system and room for six. The kitchen has an induction hob, Bosch microwave and oven, fridge freezer and a sink.
The basic stats go something like this: 6.7-litre Powerstroke V8 turbo diesel (330bhp, 725lb ft) mated to six-speed auto ‘box, 46in Michelin XVL tyres, rear air suspension with Fox shocks (to isolate the back body off road), hydraulic levelling, 30,000lb Warn winch, full LED light array. It’s got a PTO (power take-off) driven hydraulic generator, 2,100 Watts of solar capability, a 20,000 Watt bank of Lithium-Ion batteries (there are a pair of heavy-duty alternators),
