World's Sexiest Bedroom

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but surely a consensus exists among beholders of these bedrooms – that they’re utterly drool-worthy.

The sleeping quarters presented here are the 10 nominees for being named World’s Sexiest Bedroom by Mr & Mrs Smith, the travel club for lovers of extremely ship-shape hotels.It has to be said that the judges – staff at Mr & Mrs Smith and experts including fashion designer Olivia von Halle and Molly Guy, the creative director of wedding site Stone Fox Bride – have got their work cut out.

The sexy bedroom category is part of the 2018 Mr & Mrs Smith Hotel Awards, with members of the public able to vote for the best hotel. The results will be announced on January 18.

SONEVA JANI, MALDIVES: The judges from Mr & Mrs Smith say they just have two words for this bedroom - 'water slide'. And two more - 'retractable roof'. They explain that 'the best One-Bedroom Water Retreat here comes with both... so you can whoosh from your top-floor deck straight into the waves below, or just press a button and watch your roof recede to reveal the twinkling stars'

CAP ROCAT, MALLORCA, SPAIN: The judges say that the Sentinel Suites here are hidden in the cape's cliffs and were once lookout stations for the entrance to Palma Bay. 'You’ll be the only ones doing the looking these days – each suite has a terrace with a bay-surveying infinity pool,' they addLION SANDS GAME RESERVE, SOUTH AFRICA: The Kingston Treehouse here is the place, the judges say, 'for no-holds-barred animal passion'. 'Tucked away in the bush and open to the elements, this adventurous treehouse even has a drawbridge and gated doorways, so as to prevent unwanted visitors of the maned kind…' they adNIHI SUMBA ISLAND, SUMBA, INDONESIA: Opt for a stunning Wavefront Villa here and you'll be able to enjoy a four-poster king-size bed, private garden and outdoor showerLA RÉSERVE HOTEL & SPA, PARIS, FRANCE: The judges say that 'budding emperors/empresses aiming for liaisons dangereuses should head to this handsome Haussmann mansion... and plump for one of the fifth-floor Premier Junior Suites', adding that 'these are worth booking for their views alone, but there's plenty of eye-candy inside, too'SPICERS SANGOMA RETREAT, BLUE MOUNTAINS, AUSTRALIA: For romance, the Escarpment Suite here is the place to be, with couples able to snuggle up on the private deck and take in the spectacular views of the surrounding bush. Reasons to step back inside, the judges say, include the king-size bed and the bathroom bedecked with a Philippe Starck bath tub

IL SERENO, LAKE COMO, ITALY: This hotel's Penthouse Suite is 'a 2,000-square-foot mini-kingdom with magnificent lake views, Venetian terrazzo flooring and a wraparound terrace', the judges reveal. They add that you can 'get steamy in the al fresco hot tub, stake out one of the tubs-for-two, or play George and Amal in the giant bed...

 THE FRANKLIN, LONDON, UK: The junior suites here is where the magic happens, according to the judges, who say that they 'twinkle with mirrors and don't stint on the drama'

BE TULUM, RIVIERA MAYA, MEXICO: For romance book the Fuego Suite at this jungle retreat, because, say the judges, it's a '1,000-foot fantasy... with its own private garden and palm-tree-shaded plunge pool'

PALAZZO MARGHERITA, BASILICATA, ITALY: Francis Ford Coppola's 'handsome' hotel in Matera took the Best-Dressed gong in the Mr & Mrs Smith Awards last year. The judges say that 'the grandest room in the house (Suite Nine) was designed by the director himself, starring a teal herringbone bejmat-tiled floor and a kaleidoscopic ceiling'. They add that the large Italianate desk that admires the gardens is the perfect place to write your love letters/smash-hit film scripts
